the 25 hour man

what if you had an extra hour each day?

It was probably a Friday. That's when it showed up the most. The end of the week. That's probably when it first dawned on me.

I'd wrap up those banal standardized tests a couple minutes early. I'd finish up my chem-lab before the others. Inexplicably, my watch would always run fast. Two-and-a-half minutes fast per hour, in fact.

I'm a 25 hour man, you see.

For good and for bad, for the 24 hours most of us get during a single rotation of the earth, someone saw fit to give me 25.

Awesome! I wish I did have that extra hour a day. Knowing me, I'd always wonder where it went.

I love the conciseness of this piece. Short sentences. Direct.

Concise as the sentences were, I was afraid I missed a hidden nugget in there...so I re-read three times to be sure. Motivation to re-read 3 times does not come often.

Also in love with "banal standardized tests".
